Teacher Notes for this week

Ms Myers Grade 1 class

This week a March newsletter and homework calendar will be going home in your child’s agenda. Please check to see if it’s there!  Just a reminder that both these items can be found on our school website under the teacher section.  Thanks to all parents who have returned their child’s report card envelope!  If you still have it at home, please send it in with your child to be used again in June.  We continue our work with 2-D shapes, linking them to objects we see in our environment. Take a “shape walk” with your child at home and see how many different things you can find!

 Mr Cook’s Class Grade 1/2

This week’s word wall words are: BEST, COAT, KIND, YOUR, ZOO. In Math, we are moving onto subtraction with borrowing for grade 2, and subtraction facts from 20 for grade 1. In Language, we will learn about narratives, by reading stories and writing our own. We will continue to learn about structures in science and how they support an object. I will be away Thursday this week and will have a supply teacher in that day. Homework calendars will be sent home this week in the student’s agenda bags. Please make sure they are trying to complete their homework each night and have them look their work over when they are done. We will have a special visit this week from Julie Astier, my aunt and local author of LIbby Redribbon. This will happen Friday afternoon during last block. The kids are very excited about this! I hope everyone has a blessed week!

Ms Rupnik’s Language Class

This week in our Primary Language Class, we will work on a new ‘thinkmark’ dedicated to determining the important part of stories we read.  Finding the important part is a reading strategy that we use to distinguish between what information in a story is most important versus what information is interesting but not necessary for understanding.  March homework calendars arrive home on Monday, March 2, 2015.

M Girard’s classes:
