Teacher Notes for this week:
Ms Myers:This week in Grade 1….As an extension to our presentation by the National Gallery, we have been talking about famous

painters and the kind of work that inspired them. This week the “Wonderful Ones” will apply what they

have learned about primary colours and create a piece of work based on the famous Dutch artist Piet

Mondrian. In religion we will focus on the gifts of God’s creation and how we need to care for the earth.

At the end of the week we say good-bye to our wonderful co-op student, Yoshuna, from Lisgar High

School. We wish her all the best and will miss her a great deal!

The grade 2/3 class continue to work on narrative stories, our word wall words this week focus on contractions. Continue to practice these high frequency words with your children, this will help in remembering them when using them in their writing. The grade three’s will be beginning to prep for eqao. Parents can help by visiting the web site www. Eqao.com.
In math, we will focus on reviewing time and move into temperature.
We begin our new unit in science on structures.
Reminder that homework is due on Tuesday’s.
Ms Rupnik’s Class:  We will focus on the popular book titled “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats. Our lessons and tasks will include sequencing (first, next, then, last, finally), vocabulary, and retelling the story from memory.  The Retelling Journal arrives home on Friday. Be sure to sit with your child and listen to him/her retell the story, “The Snowy Day”.  Then write the retelling in the journal. Remind your child to return the Retelling Journal to school on Monday, January 26.
